Community Heroes prioritises support for elderly residents (65+), disabled people, families caring for disabled children, individuals with autism or additional needs, veterans, single-parent households, low-income households, and people with long-term health conditions.

What types of home repairs does Community Heroes carry out?

Community Heroes volunteers carry out painting and decorating, fence repairs, garden clearances, garden maintenance, shed repairs, minor carpentry, minor plumbing repairs, patch plastering, accessibility improvements, and general property maintenance.

Can I nominate someone else for Community Heroes support?

Yes. You can apply on behalf of a vulnerable person in your community. We accept nominations from family members, friends, neighbours, carers, social workers and health professionals.

Is the home improvement support from Community Heroes free?

Community Heroes provides practical home improvement support at no cost to eligible residents. The programme is funded through donations and community support.

We believe every person deserves to live in a safe, comfortable and dignified home. We accept both self-referrals and nominations on behalf of someone else.

Priority is typically given to:

Elderly residents (65+)
Disabled people and those with mobility difficulties
Families caring for disabled children
Veterans
Single-parent households
Low-income or financially struggling households
People with long-term health conditions
Individuals with autism or additional needs
